Rate Constants for the Reactions of OH-Radicals with CH2O and
HCO
Ber. Bunsenges. Phys. Chem. 1984, 88, 415.
Abstract
The rate constants for the reactions (100) and (101) have been determined at room
temperature in an isothermal discharge flow reactor using laser magnetic
resonance to monitor OH and HCO radicals. For the study of reaction (101) low
initial concentrations of OH were used, so that stoichiometry corrections were
negligible. By varying the surface to volume ratio of the flow reactors employed,
wall effects were carefully controlled. From pseudo first order analysis of the
OH-decay a rate constant of k(101)=(4.9±1.0)E+12 cm3/mol s was obtained. The
rate constant for reaction (100) was determined relative to k(101), yielding
k(100)=(1.1±0.4)E+14 cm3/mol s.
