DIAMOND SYNTHESIS
This page is under construction. You may get an idea though by perusing the past

area.
THEORETICAL STUDIES OF DIAMOND FILM GROWTH. Diamond offers the unique
combination of superlative properties, like mechanical strength, optical
transparency, high thermal conductivity, and high electron mobility. During the
past decade, chemical vapor deposition of thin diamond films received wide-spread
attention, and diamond-film products have begun to enter the market. Further
technological progress requires deeper understanding of basic elements governing
the process. The project is aimed at identification of fundamental mechanisms
underlying formation of diamond thin films in chemical vapor deposition. The
specific objective of the research is the establishment of surface growth
mechanisms, surface diffusion, and the relation between the atomistic processes
and surface patterns observed in experiment. The study involves quantum
chemistry, molecular dynamics, chemical kinetics, and stochastic simulations.
